The worst-case scenario for Facebook ads

The worst-case scenario happened to one of my clients this fall.

We had been running his ads for a few weeks. They had grown his list by hundreds of people. He was getting calls booked and sold a high end package to his first client that came in from the ad funnel.

Then, all of a sudden everything fell apart.

Facebook shut down his entire account. Not his ad account. Not his business manager. His personal account!

Suddenly neither of us had access to his ad account, Facebook business page, Instagram account, business manager... it was all gone!

What a nightmare.

This has never happened to me or any clients in 5+ years of running ads.

We still don't really know what happened. The message from Facebook said that he had violated Facebook Community Standards with a post he made on the newsfeed of his personal page.

What was the post? We don't know.

I know that it didn't have anything to do with the ads that we were running because we never had an ad rejected or any issues whatsoever.

I feel like this was either a glitch on Facebook or his account was hacked somehow.

He was eventually able to recover his accounts after several months. But this ordeal caused a huge disruption to his business and income.

I'm not telling you this story to freak you out. But I do want you to be aware that this kind of thing happens. And if this were to happen to you, there's very little that you can do about it!

The reason I'm telling this story is that I want to remind you not to put all your eggs in one (Facebook/Instagram) basket.

This is why I'm always preaching to build your email list. Thankfully, this client has over 2000 email subscribers so he still has a way to get in touch with his peeps.

He also has a blog that organically grows the list. So even without ads he's still able to send new people through the funnel that I built.

And, as a result of this experience, I've decided that it's finally time for me to learn Google ads! I've been watching a lot of training videos and consulting on friends and family's ad campaigns to see what's working.

I realized that Google ads would be really powerful for a lot of my clients, including this one. He already has a website that converts and his expertise is highly searchable.

Now, I'd love to get more experience running Google ads so I'm offering this service in 2 ways.

  1. Google ads package that includes search ads, display ads, YouTube ads, etc.

  2. A combination FB/IG + Google ads package. Having both of these going together can be so powerful, especially for retargeting!

Which of these sounds right for you?
